A Note to Downton Pupils: Due to an unfortunate accident involving a shoddy broomstick and several bolts of lightning, your flying instructor will be unable to teach for the remainder of the year. Male students are free to make use of the school brooms to keep practicing but please ensure no female students go near the brooms unsupervised. Flying has never been a ladies’ sport and it never will be.
